Maison Shaps Saint-Romain 2016
This vineyard in the small appellation of Saint-Romain is located on a very steep rocky hillside. The grapes benefit from the steep south-facing slope. The grapes from this vineyard have big bright fruit notes due to the optimal ripening of this location. Barrel fermented in one year old barrels and “sur-lies” aged for 10 months produce a good balance of the fruit and flintiness. This wine is a great example of the richness and intensity of Burgundian chardonnay.
