Located in Gordonsville, VA, Honah Lee Vineyard is our primary vineyard site. Planted in 1998 in the foothills of the Southwest Mountains, this site sits at approximately 1000m above sea level at its highest point with a southeastern exposure. The soil consists primarily of Davidson Clay, which provides excellent drainage. The location of this vineyard is really special because our vinifera varietals are planted within the 900-1200ft elevation range, which is where a layer of warm air sits, called an atmospheric thermocline. This thermocline layer helps to naturally protect against vineyard frosting and extends the growing season.
Varieties: Viognier, Malbec, Merlot, Tannat, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Roussanne, Vidal, and Chambourcin.
