Spring Fête: Sparkling Malbec Rosé release

Join us at Michael Shaps Winery for our Spring Fête: Sparkling Release Party—an afternoon dedicated to the debut of our 2024 Sparkling Malbec Rosé.

Set against the backdrop of the vineyard in spring, guests will enjoy live jazz-funk fusion from Staunton’s own The Norms, bringing a vibrant, laid-back energy to the afternoon. Crozet Seafood Supply will be on site serving lobster rolls and a selection of fresh seafood favorites, perfectly paired with a glass (or two) of bubbles.

Whether you’re settling in with friends, discovering a new favorite wine, or simply enjoying the season, this is an easy, celebratory way to welcome spring at the winery.

No reservations needed!

Blind Wine Tasting

Strip away the label, and what’s left is the wine.

Join us for an afternoon of blind tasting with Michael, through twelve pours drawn entirely from our own portfolio, tasted side-by-side with counterparts from France’s most storied wine regions. No names, no vintages, no expectations — just you, the glass, and your own read on what’s inside. We’ll reveal each flight as we go, then open it up for discussion on what set Virginia and Burgundy apart — or didn’t.

The Flights

  • Flight One — Rosé: France and Virginia, side by side
  • Flight Two — Chardonnay: Virginia meets Burgundy
  • Flight Three — Pinot Noir: Three sites across Burgundy
  • Flight Four — Petit Verdot: Three sites across Virginia

Whether you’re a confident taster or just curious to test your palate, this is a relaxed, hands-on evening built around discovery — and a rare chance to taste Virginia’s own wines against the benchmarks that inspired them.

Details

  • Date: Sunday, August 9
  • Price: $65 per person includes cheese plate & gratuity
  • What’s included: Four flights, twelve wines total — a mix of Michael Shaps portfolio and select French counterparts — guided reveal and discussion after each flight

Join us for an Intimate l. scott vertical tasting
